Aziz A. Khanifar, MD, FAAO, attended the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, and received his medical degree in 2002. His postgraduate training includes his internship in internal medicine at Los Angeles County General Hospital and residency in ophthalmology at Vanderbilt Eye Institute. Furthermore, he conducted several fellowships, including a fellowship in medical retina and research at Duke Eye Center and a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. In addition, Dr. Khanfar completed a Certificate in Clinical Investigation from the Clinical & Translational Science Center at Weill Cornell through a NIH-sposonred K30 Award as well as a fellowship at Asociación Para Evitar la Ceguera en México (APEC/Association to Prevent Blindness in Mexico) through the Paul Kayser International Travel Scholar Award granted by the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology. He received board certification in ophthalmology from the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Vit-Buckle Society, the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Washington DC Metropolitan Ophthalmological Society.
